Job Description

The Wastewater Regulatory Compliance / Resiliency Engineer selected for this opportunity will gain key public sector experience in wastewater engineering that can effectively position you to pursue and obtain key, sought-after public sector jobs. This is sought-after position with a respected public agency that combines long-term stability with the meaningful purpose of tackling environmental and climate resiliency. We are looking for an Engineer that has 1+ years of experience to work on-site and full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) in the Los Angeles area. 

As a Wastewater Regulatory Compliance / Resiliency Engineer, your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and/or review technical reports and studies to identify and recommend engineering solutions related to water supply, water/wastewater treatment, water quality, storm water, wastewater collection and climate change.
  • Assist in outreach and engagement efforts with schools and stakeholders. This involves developing written materials and conducting technical presentations to stakeholders including Execs, LASAN staff, students, Agencies, Neighborhood Councils, and other Environmental Organizations on the City’s water and climate resiliency efforts.
  • Conduct engineering research related to climate resiliency and water efficiency (e.g. water conservation, recycled water, greywater systems, on-site water reclamation facilities, etc).
  • Resolve/address inquiries that may involve investigation/research, data collection, and/or data analysis.
  • Assist with implementing Climate Resilience adaptation measures into existing City Capital Improvement Projects (e.g. Pumping Plants).
  • Review applications for the Sewer Lateral Rebate Program that consists of viewing Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) video and utilizing Navigate LA to view sewer inspection records to ensure sewer permits for lateral repair work are final and approved.

Job Requirements

As a Wastewater Regulatory Compliance / Resiliency Engineer, you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering
  • Preferred: Possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training Certificate recognized by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access GIS and related computer software
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship in the U.S.)
  • Valid CA Driver’s License and proof of insurance
