The Water Engineering Technician selected for this opportunity will gain key public sector experience in water engineering support that can effectively position you to pursue and obtain key, sought-after public sector jobs. We are looking for an Engineering Technician that has 7+ years of experience (an equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training will be considered) to work on-site and part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) in the Glendale area. 

Projects may include:

• Water pipeline and valve replacement
• Water pump station upgrades
• Water reservoir upgrades

As a Water Engineering Technician, your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Assist engineers in developing detailed CAD drawings and preparing technical specifications for a variety of public infrastructure projects.
• Gather, review, and compile data on existing utilities to support design decisions and project planning.
• Help calculate project budgets by determining material quantities, analyzing costs, and assembling cost estimates for engineering improvements.
• Work with survey, hydrographic, and topographic data—transforming raw inputs into clear maps, profiles, and cross sections for engineering use.
• Create and check permanent plans for water infrastructure projects, including drawing contour maps and utility layouts from topographic survey data.
• Respond to inquiries from residents, developers, and contractors—offering clear explanations of technical details, City policies, and procedures.

As a Water Engineering Technician, you will have:

• At minimum, graduation from high school
• Seven years increasingly responsible sub-professional engineering experience (An equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training may substitute for the minimum requirements listed)
• Knowledge of design and construction practices
• Skilled in mechanical drawing or computer-aided drafting (CAD)
• Skilled in engineering calculations
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship in the U.S.)
• Valid CA Driver’s License and proof of insurance
