Water Engineering Technician

Job Description
The Water Engineering Technician selected for this opportunity will gain key public sector experience in water engineering support that can effectively position you to pursue and obtain key, sought-after public sector jobs. We are looking for an Engineering Technician that has 7+ years of experience (an equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training will be considered) to work on-site and part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) in the Glendale area.
Projects may include:
- Water pipeline and valve replacement
- Water pump station upgrades
- Water reservoir upgrades
As a Water Engineering Technician, your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Assist engineers in developing detailed CAD drawings and preparing technical specifications for a variety of public infrastructure projects.
- Gather, review, and compile data on existing utilities to support design decisions and project planning.
- Help calculate project budgets by determining material quantities, analyzing costs, and assembling cost estimates for engineering improvements.
- Work with survey, hydrographic, and topographic data—transforming raw inputs into clear maps, profiles, and cross sections for engineering use.
- Create and check permanent plans for water infrastructure projects, including drawing contour maps and utility layouts from topographic survey data.
- Respond to inquiries from residents, developers, and contractors—offering clear explanations of technical details, City policies, and procedures.
Job Requirements
As a Water Engineering Technician, you will have:
- At minimum, graduation from high school
- Seven years increasingly responsible sub-professional engineering experience (An equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training may substitute for the minimum requirements listed)
- Knowledge of design and construction practices
- Skilled in mechanical drawing or computer-aided drafting (CAD)
- Skilled in engineering calculations
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship in the U.S.)
- Valid CA Driver’s License and proof of insurance
