Wastewater Treatment Plant Project Engineer

Job Description
The ideal candidate for the Project Engineer role will have the opportunity to acquire valuable public sector experience in the design and construction of wastewater facilities, enhancing their eligibility for prominent public sector positions. We are seeking a qualified Civil Engineer with at least 3 years of experience in wastewater treatment facilities and lift stations for a hybrid role based in the Los Angeles area, combining on-site and remote work. This is a full-time, long-term position requiring approximately 40 hours per week.
Key responsibilities may involve:
- Undertaking projects related to wastewater treatment plants and lift stations, including rehabilitation, repair, and maintenance initiatives
As a Wastewater Treatment Plant Project Engineer, your duties will encompass, but not be restricted to:
- Conducting CIP project planning, design oversight, engineering, and construction project management, as well as maintenance/reliability engineering
- Participating as either a project engineer or project manager in the engineering design and construction of wastewater treatment plant and lift station equipment and facilities
- Developing and executing engineering design projects; drafting requests for proposals from engineering consultants, evaluating proposals, overseeing the preparation of engineering plans, specifications, designs, and project cost estimates for numerous CIP and maintenance projects
- Monitoring and offering design engineering support for ongoing capital construction work; attending essential construction meetings; conducting field investigations and site visits; responding to Requests for Information (RFIs); participating in site acceptance testing
- Playing a pivotal role in capital project teams; defining project objectives; contributing design concepts; aiding in the resolution of significant operational issues during design and construction; participating in startup and continuous operations to ensure project objectives are met
- Establishing progress schedules; reviewing consultant or in-house designs/specifications for adherence to City standards; troubleshooting design issues
Job Requirements
Job Qualifications for Wastewater Treatment Plant Project Engineer:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or a related field
- Preferred: California Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification
- Required: At least 3 years of proven experience in civil engineering focusing on the design and construction of wastewater treatment plant facilities and lift stations
- Effective communication skills, ability to adhere to project timelines, and self-driven work ethic
- Applicants must have permanent work authorization in the U.S. (i.e., without time restrictions, limitations, or need for work sponsorship)
- Valid California Driver's License and proof of insurance
