Wastewater Treatment Plant Project Engineer

Job Description

The ideal candidate for the position of Project Engineer will have the opportunity to acquire valuable experience in wastewater CIP design and construction within the public sector, enhancing their prospects for securing coveted public sector roles. We seek a Civil Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of expertise in wastewater treatment facilities and lift stations to fulfill a hybrid role based in the Los Angeles area, involving a combination of on-site and remote work. This full-time, long-term CIP position will require an approximate commitment of 40 hours per week.

Key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting CIP project planning, design, engineering, and construction project management, as well as maintenance/reliability engineering
  • Participating as a project engineer or project manager in the engineering design and construction of wastewater treatment plant and lift station equipment and facilities
  • Planning and overseeing engineering design projects, including soliciting proposals from engineering consultants, assessing proposals, and supervising the development of engineering plans, specifications, designs, and project cost estimates for various CIP and maintenance projects
  • Monitoring and offering design engineering support for ongoing capital construction work, attending construction meetings, conducting field investigations and site visits, responding to RFIs, and participating in site acceptance testing
  • Playing a crucial role in capital project teams by defining project objectives, contributing design concepts, assisting in resolving significant operational issues during design and construction, and engaging in startup and ongoing operations to ensure project objectives are met
  • Establishing progress schedules, reviewing designs/specifications for compliance with City standards, and troubleshooting design issues

Job Requirements

Position: Senior Project Engineer - Wastewater Treatment Plant

  • Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or a related field
    • Required: Licensed California Professional Engineer (PE)
    • Required: Minimum of 10 years of progressive civil engineering experience with a focus on design and construction of wastewater treatment plant facilities and lift stations
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Proven ability to consistently meet project deadlines
    • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
  • Additional Requirements:

    • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship
    • Hold a valid California Driver's License and maintain proof of insurance
