Wastewater Treatment Plant Project Engineer

Job Description
The Project Engineer selected for this opportunity will gain key public sector experience in wastewater facility CIP design and construction that can effectively position you to pursue and obtain key, sought-after public sector jobs. We are looking for a Civil Engineer that has 3+ years of experience with wastewater treatment facilities and liftstations to work hybrid (on-site and remote) in the Los Angeles area. This long-term CIP position will be full-time (approximately 40 hours per week).
Projects may include:
- Wastewater treatment plant and liftstation
- Rehab projects
- Repair projects
- Maintenance projects
As a Wastewater Treatment Plant Project Engineer, your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Performs CIP project planning/design oversight, engineering and construction project management, maintenance/reliability engineering.
- Participates as a project engineer or project manager on the engineering design and construction of wastewater treatment plant and liftstation equipment and facilities
- Plans and develops engineering design projects; prepares requests for proposal from engineering consultants and evaluates proposals; directs and oversees the preparation of engineering plans, specifications, designs and project cost estimates for multiple CIP and maintenance projects
- Monitors and provides design engineering support for capital construction work in progress; attends all necessary construction meetings; conducts field investigations and site visits; prepares responses to RFIs; participates in site acceptance testing
- Serves as key member of capital project teams; defines project objectives; contributes concepts for design; assists in resolving major operational issues during design and construction; participates in startup and ongoing operations to ensure project goals are achieved
- Establishes progress schedules; reviews consultant or in-house designs/specifications for compliance with City standards; troubleshoots design problems.
Job Requirements
As a Wastewater Treatment Plant Project Engineer, you will have:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or related field
- Preferred: California Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification
- Required: 3 years of responsible civil engineering experience in the design and construction phases of wastewater treatment plant facilities and liftstations
- Strong communication skills, ability to meet deadlines, and is self-motivated
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship in the U.S.)
- Valid CA Driver’s License and proof of insurance
