Project Partners is seeking a Survey Technician with at least 2 years of experience to assist our public-sector client in the San Bernardino area. Our ideal Survey Technician Candidate will have strong experience working on public works or transportation-related projects.

Survey Technician Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and setting survey markers, construction stakes indicating offset, calculating and recording cut & fill data, elevations, stationing, slope stake information and position location, and setting and plumbing for backsight targets
  • Assist surveying teams by clearing brush, holding level rod, directing traffic, and cleaning/maintaining survey equipment
  • Operating data collectors and GPS receivers
  • Taking measurement readings while maintaining proper tape tension and plumbing bob over survey points
  • Providing mathematical checks of measured angles, electronic slope measurement reduction or slope chain reduction to horizontal distances, angle conversion to bearings, and prorations correcting measured lines/angles
  • Perform plan interpretation and calculations for construction staking, centerline recovery, and perpetuation
  • Prepare field notes for documentation of surveying activities
  • Revise and draft surveyor wall maps, engineering plans, or other related maps
  • Review departmental records and gather data to support engineering efforts
  • Four semesters of recognized surveyor’s apprenticeship classes at an accredited college
  • Minimum 2 years of field survey experience including the performance of chaining, running a rod, and optical plumbing operations
  • Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) certification is preferred
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD/Arc GIS is preferred
  • Specific knowledge of or experience with sets and marks stakes, hubs, turning points, bench marks, and Electronic Distance Measuring Device (EDM) strongly preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e. without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship in the U.S.)
  • Valid CA Driver’s License and proof of insurance
