Senior Water Engineer

Job Description
The Senior Engineer selected for this opportunity will gain key public sector experience in water treatment facilities that can effectively position you to pursue and obtain key, sought-after public sector jobs. We are looking for a Water Engineer that has 10+ years of experience in project management from planning through construction to work on-site and full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) in the Palmdale area.
As a Senior Water Engineer, your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Performing professional engineering work for water production and distribution facilities.
- Review of plans, maps, specifications and preparation of engineering conditions of approval for proposed developments.
- Performing plan checks for private development composite utility plans and water plans; hydraulic calculations for domestic and fire protection water systems; collection of plan check and inspection fees; preparation of bond agreements for public water improvements; preparation of cost estimates for bonding.
- Design or coordination of the design of various water works projects such as production wells, monitoring wells, reservoirs, booster stations, water mains, pressure regulating stations and water treatment facilities.
- Performing routine inspections of water wells, pump stations, reservoirs and other water facilities, tests for fire flow capacity and pressure of the water distribution system.
- Preparation of contracts and specifications for water works projects; preparation of engineering cost estimates; conducting bid openings, review of bids and contract document and maintaining of appropriate records; administration of contracts, coordination of inspections and authorization of progress payments. Change preparation as necessary for the alteration of plans and specifications.
- Providing supervision, training and input for staff evaluations.
Job Requirements
As a Senior Water Engineer, you will have:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or other Engineering
- Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible professional, municipal experience in water and/or wastewater engineering
- Required: Licensed California Professional Engineer (PE)
- Desired: Possession of a Grade D2 Distribution Certificate and a Grade T3 Treatment Certificate
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship in the U.S.)
- Valid CA Driver’s License and proof of insurance
