Job Description
The Senior Engineering Technician selected for this opportunity will gain key public sector experience in public works plan review that can effectively position you to pursue and obtain key, sought-after public sector jobs. We are looking for a Engineering Technician that has 5+ years of experience in dry utility plan check to work hybrid (on-site and remote) and part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) in the Santa Barbara area.
As a Senior Engineering Technician, your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Provide plan check activities for plans submitted by dry utilities companies, including trenching and traffic control plans.
- Process and review of dry utility permit applications.
- Investigate existing conditions and check for conflicts of planned utilities with existing city’s electrical and wet utilities.
- Responsible for also reviewing permits and plans for compliance with city specifications and standards, compliance with requirements from outside agencies, and for conflicts with private facilities in the public right-of-way.
Job Requirements
As a Senior Engineering Technician, you will have:
- Required: Minimum of 5 years of experience in providing plan check for dry utility permits and plans
- Preferred: Equivalent to an Associate’s degree from an accredited college with major coursework in engineering, drafting, or related
- Knowledge of the construction permitting process for cities
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship in the U.S.)
- Valid CA Driver’s License and proof of insurance
