Public Works Associate Engineer

Job Description
The Public Works Associate Engineer selected for this opportunity will gain key public sector experience in CIP project management that can effectively position you to pursue and obtain key, sought-after public sector jobs. We are looking for a Civil Engineer that has 5+ years of experience in professional engineering to work hybrid (on-site and remote) and full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) in the Torrance area.
Projects may be related to the following:
- Stormwater and Stormdrain
- Sewer Design
- Water Systems Design
As a Public Works Associate Engineer, your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Manage multiple Capital Improvement Projects from conception through construction, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and quality standards with minimal supervision.
- Develop, monitor, and update comprehensive project schedules.
- Prepare and administer professional engineering and professional service agreements, including scope development, RFP preparation, negotiation, and oversight of consultants.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, cost estimates, maps, legal descriptions, and contract documents, and provide recommendations for approval in compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
- Collaborate and coordinate with various departments, public agencies, and utility companies to ensure alignment and support for project goals and timelines.
Job Requirements
As a Public Works Associate Engineer, you will have:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or closely related field
- At least 5 years of professional engineering, field and office experience
- Preferred: Licensed California Professional Engineer (PE) - Civil
- Proven experience managing at least 3 major public works projects, including administration of associate consultant contracts, within the past three years.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship in the U.S.)
- Valid CA Driver’s License and proof of insurance
