Job Description

The Process Engineer selected for this opportunity will gain key public sector experience in the planning, design, and project management of wastewater facilities projects that can effectively position you to pursue and obtain key, sought-after public sector jobs. We are looking for a Process Engineer that has 15+ years of experience in wastewater facilities design and construction to work hybrid (mostly remote with on-site visits) and part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) in the Los Angeles area. 

Projects may include:

  • Various wastewater facilities rehabilitation and replacement projects at multiple wastewater treatment plants

As a Process Engineer, your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide engineering oversight during the design phase of wastewater treatment plant improvement projects.
  • Review technical design documents, drawings, and specifications submitted by engineering consultants to ensure compliance with applicable codes and agency standards.
  • Manage multiple concurrent capital projects at various stages of development within the Environmental Engineering Division.
  • Lead the procurement process for professional engineering services, including the preparation of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and consultant selection.
  • Draft and develop task order language for On-call Consultant contracts to define project scopes and deliverables.
  • Monitor and manage project schedules, budgets, and milestones; coordinate with stakeholders to address issues that may impact project delivery.

Job Requirements

As a Process Engineer, you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or closely related engineering field
  • Licensed California Professional Engineer (PE)
  • At least 15 years of progressively responsible civil engineering experience, with emphasis on the design and construction of wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of wastewater treatment plant design
  • Project management experience
  • Review and development experience with schedules and budget
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship in the U.S.)
  • Valid CA Driver’s License and proof of insurance
