Plan Check Engineer

Job Description
The Plan Check Engineer selected for this opportunity will gain key public sector experience in sewer and stormwater plan checking that can effectively position you to pursue and obtain key, sought-after public sector jobs. We are looking for a Civil Engineer that has 10+ years of experience in engineering to work hybrid (on-site and remote) and full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) in the Los Angeles area.
As a Plan Check Engineer, your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Develop a comprehensive plan check training manual and standard operating procedures.
- Review and evaluate sewer and storm drain plans for compliance with municipal and Metro design standards.
- Coordinate with developers, consultants, and Metro representatives to resolve design and construction issues.
- Provide technical guidance on plan submittal requirements and engineering best practices.
- Prepare detailed plan review comments and track resubmittals through approval.
Job Requirements
As a Plan Check Engineer, you will have:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or related
- 10-15 years of engineering experience, including plan checking
- Preferred: Licensed California Professional Engineer (PE)
- Capable of creating guidelines and procedures for plan-check of sewer and stormdrain designs
- Preferred: Familiarity with Los Angeles city code
- Experience with plan check review related to sewer and stormwater design experience
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship in the U.S.)
- Valid CA Driver’s License and proof of insurance
