Job Description

The Junior Sewer Planning Engineer selected for this opportunity will gain key public sector experience in hydraulic analysis and condition assessment of sewer pipes that can effectively position you to pursue and obtain key, sought-after public sector jobs. We are looking for a Civil or Environmental Engineer that has experience in wastewater or sewer projects to work on-site and full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) in the Los Angeles area. 

As a Junior Sewer Planning Engineer, your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform hydraulic analyses and structural condition assessments of sewer pipelines (6”–15” diameter) to evaluate system performance.
  • Analyze and interpret hydraulic data to develop recommendations for capacity improvements, bypass strategies, operations and maintenance (O&M), and system optimization.
  • Prepare and support basin planning reports, technical memoranda, and Capital Improvement Program (CIP) business cases for municipal sewer projects.
  • Review and interpret engineering plans, specifications, feasibility studies, cost estimates, project schedules, and sewer bypass plans.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including design, operations, construction, administration, public outreach, and leadership—to deliver successful infrastructure projects.
  • Contribute to planning and coordination efforts across wastewater, water, and stormwater programs.

Job Requirements

As a Junior Sewer Planning Engineer, you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • 0-3 years of engineering experience, preferably on projects in wastewater or sewer
  • Preferred: Sewer Modeling experience
  • Preferred: Experience with Mike URBAN
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship in the U.S.)
  • Valid CA Driver’s License and proof of insurance
