I&C Engineer
Job Description
The I&C Engineer selected for this opportunity will gain key public sector experience in instrumentation and controls design that can effectively position you to pursue and obtain key, sought-after public sector jobs. We are looking for an Engineer that has 10+ years of relevant experience in engineering to work on-site and part-time (approximately 25 hours per week) in the Fountain Valley area.
Engineering Planning/Asset Management for new and replacement/maintenance projects, including but not limited to:
- PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers)
- MCCs (Motor Control Centers)
- VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives)
As an I&C Engineer, your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and manage instrumentation & control (I&C) project scope, budget, staffing, and schedules for projects of varying size and complexity.
- Conduct and oversee field investigations to verify existing as-built conditions and support design development.
- Prepare I&C studies, technical memorandums, assessments, and engineering reports.
- Evaluate and select electrical and control system components and engineered systems for project implementation.
- Develop and coordinate I&C construction documents, including motor control schematics, loop drawings, riser diagrams, P&IDs, panel and cable schedules, control system architecture drawings, instrumentation details, and control narratives.
- Prepare technical specifications, equipment datasheets, and testing and commissioning plans.
- Provide construction-phase support, including responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and performing field inspections to confirm conformance with design.
Job Requirements
As an I&C Engineer, you will have:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical or Control System Engineering
- 10+ years of relevant experience in water and wastewater projects, ideally with municipal projects, but will also consider industrial
- Strong knowledge of I&C systems, construction means and methods, materials, and industry standards
- Applicable experience in electrical-related design and commissioning
- Proven track record in design and production of tender documents such as P&IDs, single line diagrams, control and communication system diagrams, electrical and instrument location drawings, loop & schematic wiring diagrams; developing equipment load schedules, cable & tray calculations, instrumentation list and specifications sheets, standard details; contract specifications, electrical studies and reports
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship in the U.S.)
- Valid CA Driver’s License and proof of insurance
