Job Description
The Heavy Civil Construction Inspector selected for this opportunity will gain key public sector experience in water and wastewater facilities inspection that can effectively position you to pursue and obtain key, sought-after public sector jobs. We are looking for an Inspector that has 3+ years of experience in performing construction inspection on large public works projects to work on-site and full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) in the Orange County area.
Projects may include:
- Sewer Relocation or Rehabilitation Projects
- Pump Station Replacement and Rehabilitation Projects
- Wastewater Treatment Plant Rehabilitation and Expansion Projects
- Utility Systems (I&C)
As a Heavy Civil Construction Inspector, your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Review construction documents, plans, and specifications.
- Inspect construction work for compliance with codes, safety, and project requirements.
- Verify materials meet specifications and approved practices.
- Coordinate equipment shutdowns with Operations & Maintenance staff.
- Review and track contractor submittals, as-built drawings, and field changes.
- Maintain daily inspection records, logs, test results, and reports.
- Support monthly progress reporting and project documentation.
- Attend construction meetings and coordinate with contractors, utilities, and regulatory agencies.
- Oversee start-up, testing, and commissioning of new and existing systems.
Job Requirements
As a Heavy Civil Construction Inspector, you will have:
- High school diploma or GED supplemented by specialized training or coursework in a related field; any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be qualifying
- 3+ years of experience performing construction inspections on large public works construction projects
- Knowledge of: services and activities of a construction inspection program, operational characteristics of construction testing equipment and tools, methods and techniques of traffic control, principles and procedures of record keeping and reporting, and current equipment and communication tools used for business functions and program, project and task coordination.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship in the U.S.)
- Valid CA Driver’s License and proof of insurance
