Job Description

The GIS Programmer selected for this opportunity will gain key public sector experience in the development and maintenance of web applications related to Geographic Information Systems that can effectively position you to pursue and obtain key, sought-after public sector jobs. This is a highly coveted position with a well-respected public agency that offers long-term stability. We are looking for a GIS Programmer that has 5+ years of experience in creating GIS-based tools to facilitate planning activities to work on-site and full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) in the Los Angeles area. 

As a GIS Programmer, your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Use your skills in computer and web programming to develop and maintain web applications that boost city staff productivity and enhance public access to vital information, making a meaningful impact on the community.
  • Apply your expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to create and maintain datasets, produce informative paper and web maps, and analyze geographic data—all crucial for improving sewer services and infrastructure planning.
  • Lead software development initiatives by creating GIS-based tools that streamline sewer planning activities, contributing directly to the city's efficiency and modernization.
  • Play a key role in implementing and integrating Enterprise-level asset management, project management, and GIS software, helping to optimize wastewater utility operations and asset management for better service delivery.

Job Requirements

As a GIS Programmer, you must have:

  • At least 5 years of experience with the following:
    • Esri Javascript API application development
    • Esri Data types fgdb, shapefiles
    • Write ETL’s for Esri Data
    • Javascript
    • REST Web API Creation
    • DBMS technology such as SQL Server, DB2, Oracle, and Access
    • Git
    • Advanced knowledge of APIs
    • Code Reviews
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure Service Bus and SQL MI Concepts
  • Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise to assist/advise on system architecture, system maintenance/monitoring, and Hub/Site development/deployment
  • Software integration solutions with other business systems including data warehousing, BI, CRM, ERP, and analytics platforms
  • Able to take direction and complete assignments in a timely manner
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a small, highly skilled team
  • Troubleshoot client issues related to application deployment and system architecture
  • Design and deliver mobile or location-based business application
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship in the U.S.)
  • Valid CA Driver’s License and proof of insurance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with:
    • IIS Servers
    • ColdFusion
    • NET Core / C#
    • Custom web applications (Public agency developed)
    • Enterprise web applications (OpenGov)
    • Cloud computing concepts in addition to on-premise solutions
