Construction Manager
Job Description
The Construction Manager selected for this opportunity will gain key public sector experience in water infrastructure planning and construction that can effectively position you to pursue and obtain key, sought-after public sector jobs. We are looking for a Civil Engineer that has 8+ years of experience in water engineering to work hybrid (on-site and remote) and either part-time or full-time (approximately 20-40 hours per week) in the Victorville area.
Projects may include:
- Groundwater Recharge Project
- 1100 LF CML&C pipeline, including valves and appurtenances
- Basin grading work
As a Construction Manager, your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Manage CM contracts, budgets, and client relationships to ensure project objectives are met.
- Oversee all construction administration activities from pre-construction through closeout.
- Monitor construction expenditures and prepare cost projections and spending forecasts.
- Review, verify, and recommend approval of contractor progress payment applications.
- Lead site meetings to address construction progress, scheduling, coordination, record drawings, and issue resolution.
- Resolve field and contract administration issues; direct and supervise Inspectors, Office Engineers, and CM staff.
- Review and negotiate change orders, extra work claims, and contractor change proposals.
- Develop and manage staffing plans, including scheduling inspectors, special inspections, surveyors, and testing laboratories.
- Serve as lead field office administrator with overall site responsibility under limited supervision.
- Collaborate with clients and design teams to refine plans and specifications to support efficient construction execution.
Job Requirements
As a Construction Manager, you will have:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or closely related field
- 8+ years of experience in construction planning and management, including but not limited to construction contracts, site safety, project controls, time and cost impacts, risk management, quality management, change management, estimating, bidding, preparing and administering purchase orders and subcontracts, scheduling, cost control, and constructability reviews
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of stakeholders
- Preferred: one of the following – Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Project Management Professional (PMP), or Licensed California Professional Engineer (PE)
- Preferred: Experience with construction management software
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship in the U.S.)
- Valid CA Driver’s License and proof of insurance
