Job Description

The Construction Inspector selected for this opportunity will gain key public sector experience in water infrastructure construction inspection that can effectively position you to pursue and obtain key, sought-after public sector jobs. We are looking for an Inspector that has 3+ years of experience performing construction inspection to work on-site and full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) in the Victorville area. 

Projects may include:

  • Groundwater Recharge Project
    • 1100 LF CML&C pipeline, including valves and appurtenances
    • Basin grading work

As a Construction Inspector, your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Review construction plans and specifications to ensure compliance with approved standards and construction practices.
  • Verify materials and installation methods meet contract requirements.
  • Maintain and update contract drawings; review and confirm accuracy of contractor as-built drawings.
  • Support field change orders, plan clarifications, and design modifications; track and document time-and-materials work.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed inspection documentation, including daily reports, photo logs, test results, force account reports, extra work requests, submittals, and punch lists.
  • Assist in preparation of monthly progress reports and project documentation.
  • Participate in construction meetings and coordinate with contractors, regulatory agencies, and utility providers.
  • Inspect and coordinate system start-up, commissioning, and functional testing of new and existing facilities.

Job Requirements

As a Construction Inspector, you will have:

  • Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be qualifying, including 1) a high school diploma or G.E.D. supplemented by specialized training or coursework in engineering technology, construction inspection, or a related field, or 2) Three (3) years of work experience performing construction inspections on large public works construction projects
  • Knowledge of: materials, equipment, tools, and apparatus used in construction; methods and techniques of construction materials and soil testing; methods and techniques of traffic control; methods and techniques of traffic control; current equipment and communication tools used for business functions and program, project, and task coordination, including computers and software programs relevant to work performed
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship in the U.S.)
  • Valid CA Driver’s License and proof of insurance
