Landscape Manager

Job Description
The Landscape Manager selected for this opportunity will gain key public sector experience in municipal landscape maintenance and management that can effectively position you to pursue and obtain key, sought-after public sector jobs. We are looking for an individual that has 15+ years of experience to work on-site and full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) in the Port Hueneme area.
As a Landscape Manager, your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinates the organization, staffing, and operational activities for the landscaping/maintenance program including directing the maintenance and repairs of City parks and street trees, developing schedules for seasonal pruning and planting, and overseeing the activities of irrigation and repair crews.
- Participates in the selection of assigned staff; provides or coordinates staff training; develops training plans; writes and administers performance evaluations; works with employees to correct deficiencies.
- Develops and administers programs such as the application of herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers.
- Plans, organizes, directs, supervises, and empowers the landscape maintenance staff to complete assigned work with established work schedules; checks on status of work crews and jobs during the day and provides technical assistance; inspects progress of work for quality and proper use of resources.
- Determines material and equipment needs; plans, procures, and allocates materials, tools, equipment, and other supplies; prepares equipment specifications.
Job Requirements
As a Landscape Manager, you will have:
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in arboriculture, horticulture, forestry entomology, plant pathology, or a related field
- Required: Minimum of 15 years in the maintenance and management of parks, landscaped areas, street and shrub maintenance and management, including administrative and/or lead supervisory experience.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship in the U.S.)
- Valid CA Driver’s License and proof of insurance
