Job Description

The Sewer Capacity Assurance Engineer selected for this opportunity will gain key public sector experience in wastewater engineering that can effectively position you to pursue and obtain key, sought-after public sector jobs. We are looking for an Engineer that has 2+ years of experience to work on-site and full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) in the Los Angeles area. 

As a Sewer Capacity Assurance Engineer, your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform Sewer Capacity Availability Requests (SCARs) for residential, commercial, and new developments using NavigateLA, hydraulic calculations, and MikeUrban modeling. Coordinate with planners for SCARs that may have capacity constraints.
  • Perform California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) sewer data analysis including responding to requests from constituents and agencies.
  • Perform Sewer Ejector analysis requests and ensure acceptability by performing quantitative pipe analysis including capacity, slope, d/D, and future expansion considerations.
  • Coordinate and request special gauging data with the Clean Water Conveyance Division (CWCD) and other departments.
  • Perform field/site investigations when necessary to oversee special gauging tests, resolve capacity issues, and address sewer-related questions.
  • Prepare status and summary reports on weekly, monthly, and yearly intervals.

Job Requirements

As a Sewer Capacity Assurance Engineer, you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering
  • Preferred: Possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training Certificate recognized by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers
  • Proficient in wastewater modeling software, ideally NavigateLA and MikeUrban
  • Knowledge of wastewater collections systems, wastewater engineering principles, hydraulic modeling, and sewer system analysis
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship in the U.S.)
  • Valid CA Driver’s License and proof of insurance
