Job Description

Project Partners is seeking an experienced Public Works Associate Engineer with 5+ years of experience to assist our public client in the Hermosa Beach area. The position will be hybrid on-site/remote and either part-time or full-time (approximately 20-40 hours per week). 

The Public Works Associate Engineer duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs a variety of professional civil engineering functions involved in the design and preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for public works projects, including roadways, buildings, parks, stormdrains, and sewers.
  • Performs project management functions for complex projects including preparing and monitoring budgets, reviewing and tracking the progress and work of consultants and contractors, monitoring the project schedule, administering permits, and ensuring compliance with specifications.
  • Prepares requests for proposals and evaluates responses; prepares and administers contracts and specifications.
  • Performs special engineering studies and prepares reports.
  • Assists in administration and preparation of operating and capital improvement budgets.

Job Requirements

The Public Works Associate Engineer will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or related field
  • California Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification is required
  • Minimum of 5 years of increasingly responsible experience in professional civil engineering work in public works or municipal engineering
  • Knowledge of NPDES/MS4 Permit related issues
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of geographic information systems (GIS) programs
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship in the U.S.)
  • Valid CA Driver’s License and proof of insurance
