Engineering Technician

Engineering Technician Duties:

  •  Receive and process requests for recycled meters
  •  Review insurance submittals to determine they are in conformance with  Municipal Water District insurance requirements, communicate with customers, contractors or insurance agents to address deficiencies.
  •  Provide information to developers/contractors for submittal requirements based on type of request (Understand inter departmental requirements to ensure proper submittal requirements are provided to customers based on request type and tenant type)
  •  Review technical drawings, street improvement plans, facility record drawing, GIS mapping system, construction drawings, on-site utility drawings.

 

CCOMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT:

  • Review commercial project submittals/resubmittals for completeness.
  • Record in system receipt of submittals, upload submittals and correspondence to system.
  • Email corrections and/or request missing submittal items in accordance with submittal requirements
  • Cross reference completed project connection form and redlined drawings to address any discrepancies for connections being requested/proposed.
  • Review conditions of approval to validate approved fire flow requirements and Municipal Water District issued fire flow letter previously issued are based on current approved fire flow requirements
  • Following accepted submittal, process required internal reviews – communicate effectively with other workgroups if they seek clarification/information to complete their reviews. Log in the system pertinent information related to these efforts.
  • Maintain system updated to reflect current project status
  • Prepare/calculate project fee estimates
  • Process forms for distribution to transfer project based on type of request.

 

TENANT IMPROVEMENT REQUESTS:

  • Vet phone calls or emails received to determine if proposed tenant can be Cleared for Occupancy or will require further technical review and/or other internal reviews.
  • Provide information to developers/contractors for submittal requirements based on proposed tenant type (Understand inter departmental requirements to ensure proper submittal requirements are provided to customers based on request type and tenant type)
  • Record in system receipt of submittals, upload submittals and correspondence to system.
  • Email corrections and/or request missing submittal items in accordance with submittal requirements
  • Cross reference completed tenant improvement form and architectural drawings to address any discrepancies for proposed change uses to determine applicable fees.
  • Prepare/calculate project fee or estimates
  • Contact jurisdictional agencies for historical tenant information if necessary
  • Tenant improvement expansions – review GIS system for any easements, determine plan check requirements, if any.

 

The position requires a minimum graduation from high school or G.E.D. Associates degree from a college or university which is accredited by the US Department of Education, with major coursework in Public Administration / Engineering, or a related field is a plus. Requires (4-8) years of Engineering Technician experience. 

The selected candidate must be proficient in all Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). The selected candidate must possess a valid California Class C Driver’s license at the time of appointment.
